Is Infertility a common problem?


Fertility usually declines with age both in women and in men. Although the effect is observed greater in women and women in their 30's have about half of the fertility that they had in their 20's. The chances of conception are said to significantly decline when they age over 35. Male fertility also shows a decline although more gradually as compared to women.

What does Infertility mean?

When a couple is not able to get pregnant after trying regularly for a year its an indication of infertility. Also, there are cases where women are able to conceive but prone to miscarriage might also be considered infertile.

Yes. The infertility rates have seen a rise in the last decade as people follow a poor lifestyle and diet. Around ten percent of women around the world have difficulty in getting pregnant or successfully completing the pregnancy if they have conceived.



What are the symptoms of Infertility?
So the most common symptom of infertility is of course not being able to conceive. There might, or might not be obvious symptoms that you can observe. Some women have irregular or absent periods. Men observe changes in hair growth or sexual functions. Most of the couple are able to conceive eventually be it with or without the treatment. 
How is Infertility Diagnosed?
Most of the couples do visit their doctor in case they are not able to get pregnant after a year of trying. In case you are over the age of 35, it is crucial that you visit your physician in around a period of six months of trying. This is important as fertility testing also takes a lot of time and women in her 30's should take medical assistance sooner.
 Bottom Line: Infertility treatment is possible. It does depend on numerous factors that will be taken care of by your physician.

Infertility affects Dads too


Infertility is a real issue that many people suffer with. Most people have the idea in their mind that women tend to get infertile but sometimes when a man’s sperm doesn’t function as it should, it can cause infertility in a man. Usually, people don’t really think about checking their sperm count or tending to the problem until they are trying to conceive a child. And, that’s exactly when the problem arises. There is a lot of frustration at this point in time, a lot of emotional distress and this can really end up causing problems in a marriage.
There are many reasons as to why a man may become infertile
A man could behaving low sperm count for many reasons. This can include low sperm count, unusual sperm function or something that may be blocking the sperm from producing a good amount. Lifestyle choices, as well as healthy choices or illnesses, also play a major role.

Here are some medical causes as to why a man may be infertile:
       Infections- Infections usually end up interfering with normal sperm production. It can block the passage of sperm. It can be because of inflammation of the testicles, HIV or gonorrhea.
       Varicocele- In this illness, the vein in the testicle begins to swell and proper drainage of the testicle isn’t possible. Varicocele reduces the quality of sperm but this can be reversed through treatment.
       Issues with ejaculating- There is an issue called retrograde ejaculation. It is when the sperm enters the bladder instead of shooting out the tip of the penis. There are various things that can cause this such as diabetes, spinal issues or surgery of the prostate.
       Tumors- Cancerous tumors can take its toll on male reproductive organs by producing the hormones into pituitary gland. Chemotherapy or radiation can also affect sperm production.
       Undescended testis- In some cases, the testicles do not descend into the scrotum during fetus development. One or both can end up staying in the sac. This may not usually cause any discomfort but it could lead to infertility if ignored.
How to treat infertility:
       Surgery- This is good for correcting varicocele or even undescended testis.
       Infections- Early identification and with antibiotics may preserve fertility.
       Hormonal medications- Your doctor might tell you to take hormonal tablets or injections if your body isn’t producing the normal amount of certain hormones that are required for conceiving.
Infertility is an issue that many people face. It is important to be aware of the causes and then treating it as soon as possible. It is crucial to be treated in order to conceive.
